KATHMANDU: In an ICC World Cup League 2 encounter at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal national cricket team posted a competitive total of 256 runs in 49.5 overs against Oman national cricket team, setting a target of 257 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nepal lost all wickets just short of the 50-over mark.

Opener Aasif Sheikh led the innings with an impressive 94-run knock, anchoring the top order. Arjun Kumal contributed 48 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee added 33 runs.

A thrilling late flourish came from Aarif Sheikh, who smashed 43 runs off just 24 balls, including three consecutive sixes in the final over, pushing Nepal past the 250-run mark.

Gulshan Jha scored 17 runs, while Vinod Bhandari and Karan KC were dismissed without scoring.

Captain Rohit Paudel made 9 runs, and Nandan Yadav added 2.

For Oman, Nadeem Khan picked up three wickets, while Shakeel Ahmed and Hussain Shah claimed two wickets each. Jiten Ramanandi and Aryan Bista also chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Nepal had earlier suffered a 102-run defeat in their previous match and will be hoping for a strong response in this crucial game of the ICC World Cup League 2.
