KATHMANDU: Nepal produced a commanding all-round performance to crush Oman national cricket team by a wide margin in the first semifinal of the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Qualifier, sealing a place in the final and confirming qualification for the main event.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Oman suffered a dramatic collapse. Nepal’s pace spearhead Karan KC struck early with two quick wickets, reducing Oman to 9/3 inside just three overs. Despite a fighting 38 from Sufyan Mehmood, the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer resistance as Oman were bowled out for 94 in 20 overs.

Chasing a modest target, Nepal started aggressively. Kushal Bhurtel provided a quickfire start with 20 off just 8 balls. Although both openers fell early, Lokesh Bam and captain Rohit Paudel calmly guided the innings, ensuring a smooth chase. Lokesh Bam stood out with a blistering 44 off 26 balls, hitting 7 fours and a six.

Nepal reached the target comfortably, showcasing complete dominance in both bowling and batting departments. In the bowling attack, Karan KC finished with 3 wickets, while Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed 2 wickets each, sealing a comprehensive victory.
