KATHMANDU: The Mushroom Producers Association Nepal has organized a Mushroom Fair and Culinary Festival 2082 at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu.

The event was held today on the occasion of “Mushroom Day.”

According to a decision made by the Nepalese government during the Council of Ministers meeting on Poush 11, every year Poush 15 has been officially declared as “Mushroom Day.”

Following this decision, the country today formally celebrated the first-ever National Mushroom Day.

The exhibition at the fair showcased a variety of mushroom dishes and different types of mushrooms.

Mushroom cultivation has expanded to 70 districts across Nepal, and commercial production is underway in 40 districts.

Despite daily mushroom production reaching approximately 100,000 kilograms in Nepal, the demand exceeds local supply, necessitating the import of mushrooms worth Rs 150–200 million annually.
