KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has temporarily suspended the mechanism that set the weighted average price during the last 15 minutes of the trading session as the closing price.

Since Chaitra, NEPSE had been applying a system where the weighted average price from 2:45 PM to 3:00 PM was considered the final trading price.

NEPSE’s spokesperson, Murahari Parajuli, stated that this arrangement has now been suspended following instructions from the Securities Board of Nepal.

According to Parajuli, a technical test of the revised mechanism will be conducted today, and the new system will come into effect from Tuesday, as tomorrow is a public holiday.

Earlier, in Falgun, the Securities Trading Operations Regulations (Fourth Amendment), 2081, was revised to include a provision in Rule 11(7), stating that the weighted average price from 2:45 PM to 3:00 PM would be considered the closing price. If no trades occurred during this period, the last traded price would be taken as the final price.
