KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has expressed serious concern over the Election Commission’s delay in issuing the certificate of election to its Dhanusha-1 representative, Matrika Prasad Yadav, despite his clear victory in the parliamentary polls.

In a statement released by party secretary Govindaa Acharya, the party criticized the withholding of the certificate even after vote counting had been completed and results publicly announced.

The statement highlighted that all procedures were conducted transparently, with representatives of all candidates present during the counting process.

The controversy follows the Election Commission’s Falgun 18 meeting, which had disqualified Kishori Sah Kamal, the candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), under the Election Act, 2074.

Following the disqualification, voting proceeded peacefully, and counting began on Falgun 22 under the Commission’s directive.

The NCP argued that withholding the certificate over the disqualified candidate’s issue violates established legal procedures.

The party urged the Election Commission, a prestigious constitutional body, to uphold the rule of law without succumbing to any political pressure. It also expressed full confidence that the judiciary will deliver a fair and lawful decision on the matter.
