Ncell files police complaint after rampage at headquarter

KATHMANDU: Ncell has lodged a formal complaint with the District Police Office, Kathmandu, following widespread vandalism, arson, and looting at its main office, Ncell Icon, in Lainchaur on Bhadra 24, during the recent Gen Z protests.
The complaint states that criminal groups exploited the protest to damage Ncell’s property, threatening and confining security personnel, vandalizing office equipment, and looting cash, safes, and essential documents.
The company has demanded that those responsible be arrested, investigated, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and that stolen items and damages be fully compensated.
According to the complaint, perpetrators forcibly entered the building by breaking windows, destroyed office equipment on all ten floors—including computers, printers, televisions, refrigerators, coffee vending machines, and other essential devices—looted personal belongings of employees, and even set fire to high-value vehicles, both company-owned and rented.
The report also mentions damage to certificates, permits, and property ownership documents critical to the company.
Ncell has provided the police with a detailed inventory of stolen and damaged items, as well as CCTV footage capturing the incidents, to aid the investigation.
The company also stated that an official assessment of the total damage is underway, and additional details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
