Nationwide conference on transformative education begins from Aspire College
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel, Dean of Kathmandu University School of Education.
KATHMANDU: A national-level teacher conference themed “Practice in Transformative Education” concluded on Sunday in Biratnagar, aiming to make teaching and learning more timely, innovative, and impactful.
Organized by Aspire College in collaboration with the Kathmandu University School of Education, the event drew enthusiastic participation from 189 teachers and academic professionals representing all 14 districts of Koshi Province.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Bal Chandra Luitel, Dean of Kathmandu University School of Education.
In his keynote address, Prof. Luitel elaborated on the concept, need, and classroom application of transformative education. “We must move beyond traditional teaching models and foster student-centered, inquiry-based, and tech-integrated learning environments,” he said.

“Understanding diverse learning types, methods, and modern assessment tools is crucial. Teachers need motivation and tools for classroom innovation.”
Aspire College Principal Chintamani Basnet, in his welcome remarks, emphasized the college’s vision to become a model center for teacher development and a collaborative learning hub across all sectors. “This conference has effectively conveyed a message of educational continuity and innovation,” he stated.
The event featured 20 parallel sessions covering key topics in contemporary education, including innovative pedagogy, artificial intelligence in education, leadership for transformation, and differentiated instruction.
Special workshops on “Concerns in Education and Leadership Development” were also conducted by Prof. Dr. Dhanapati Subedi and Dr. Binod Prasad Panta from Kathmandu University.

Distinguished guests included Pratik Raut from the National Planning Commission’s Youth Council, Rajan Paudel, Chair of National PABSON Koshi Province, and Krishna Prasad Pokharel, Director of the Education Development Directorate in Dhankuta.
Participating teachers praised the conference as highly productive, noting the acquisition of practical insights and skills applicable in their classrooms.
The direct engagement and exchange of experiences between educators and academics added depth and vitality to the event.
