KATHMANDU: The government has announced the commencement of a new road construction project on the Muglin–Aanbukhaireni section, as outlined by Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle during the joint session of the Federal Parliament for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 budget.

According to the plan, a new 4.456-kilometre roadway will be built on the Gorkha side of the Marsyangdi River corridor, running parallel to the existing highway.

The alignment will pass along the left bank of the Marsyangdi River, extending from the Muglin Bazar area to the section opposite the Marsyangdi Hydropower Project.

Muglin–Aanbukhaireni road section is being developed to improve connectivity and ease traffic flow along one of Nepal’s busiest transport corridors.

Meanwhile, the Aanbukhaireni–Pokhara road expansion project is in its final stage. The government has also pledged to expedite the completion of the four-lane highway linking Aabukhaireni and Pokhara, aiming to enhance regional mobility and support economic activity in the western corridor of the country.
