MP DP Aryal accused of human trafficking
The controversial admission, made from the parliamentary rostrum, has now placed the lawmaker under both legal and ethical scrutiny.
KATHMANDU: A formal complaint has been registered at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers demanding an investigation against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker and former minister DP Aryal for his alleged involvement in human trafficking under the pretext of visit visas.
Social activist Yubaraj Paudel (Safal) filed the complaint, citing Aryal’s own statement made during a parliamentary session on Asar 15, where Aryal publicly admitted to being the director of Sumire Tours and Travels Pvt. Ltd. and acknowledged that his company has been sending Nepali citizens to Japan on visit visas for years.
The controversial admission, made from the parliamentary rostrum, has now placed the lawmaker under both legal and ethical scrutiny.
The complaint states that “a trafficking network is reportedly operating through Tribhuvan International Airport, misusing visit visas under a coordinated ‘setting,’ leaving thousands of Nepali citizens stranded abroad.” It further questions the credibility of Aryal’s claim that his company has followed all legal procedures.
The complaint urges the government to launch a thorough investigation into all individuals sent abroad by Sumire Tours and Travels, scrutinizing their documentation, visa process, and current status.
Should the investigation find any violations, the complaint calls for the strictest legal action against Aryal and other company directors under the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act, 2064.
