Minister Lamsal inspects Nagdhunga–Muglin road
The inspection comes at a time when construction work along the key national corridor has been increasingly disrupted.
KATHMANDU: Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Sunil Lamsal carried out a field inspection of the Nagdhunga–Muglin Road, aiming to assess ongoing construction delays and emerging operational challenges.
The inspection comes at a time when construction work along the key national corridor has been increasingly disrupted.
According to officials, rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia have affected the import of bitumen and other petroleum-based materials, directly slowing down infrastructure development projects across the country, including this strategic highway section.
The shortage of fuel and bitumen has not only impacted the Nagdhunga–Muglin road project but has also caused delays or suspension of multiple road expansion and maintenance works nationwide.
Contractors report that supply chain disruptions have made it difficult to maintain construction timelines and quality standards.
In addition to international supply issues, local-level obstacles have further complicated progress.
Difficulties in the availability of construction materials such as stones, gravel, and sand have added pressure on ongoing projects.
Contractors have repeatedly raised these concerns with authorities, expressing frustration over limited government response.
During the inspection, Minister Lamsal emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to resolve logistical bottlenecks and ensure that national infrastructure projects do not remain stalled.
Officials indicated that the visit was part of a broader effort to identify on-ground problems and accelerate solutions for timely project completion.
