Min Aung Hlaing sworn in as Myanmar President
During the session, U Nyo Saw and Nan Ni Ni Aye were also sworn in as Vice Presidents.
KATHMANDU: Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was officially sworn in as President of Myanmar on Friday, marking a significant political development in the country.
The oath-taking ceremony was conducted before the Speaker of the Union Parliament during the sixth day of the first regular session of the third Union Parliament in the capital, Naypyidaw.
During the session, U Nyo Saw and Nan Ni Ni Aye were also sworn in as Vice Presidents.
Several high-ranking federal officials—including the Chief Justice, Supreme Court judges, Union ministers, the Attorney General, the Chairperson of the Union Election Commission, the Governor and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, as well as members of the Anti-Corruption Commission—took their oaths before the Speaker.
Min Aung Hlaing, the former Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, was elected President by the Presidential Electoral College on April 3.
