KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has expressed his delight as the long-anticipated Anil Adhikari, better known as Yama Buddha Skateboard Park takes shape after three years of persistent effort and planning.
Sharing updates on social media, Mayor Shah highlighted the park’s progress and outlined its significance for youth engagement and cultural promotion.
According to Mayor Shah, the park, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.7 crore, is now over halfway complete.
Recent images released by the mayor showcase the park’s modern design and innovative structures, generating excitement among Kathmandu’s skateboard enthusiasts.
Mayor Shah emphasized that the project was envisioned soon after he assumed office, as part of his broader goal to make Kathmandu a city “for everyone.” “Alongside heritage conservation, we wanted to create a city that responds to the aspirations of our youth. The Yama Buddha Skateboard Park is a step in that direction,” he wrote on social media.
The park is expected to become a hub for young skaters and a platform for nurturing sports and arts culture in the capital.
