Maoists’ decision: To contest NA Chairmanship, contest election alone

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Centre is going to contest the elections alone in the upcoming elections.

The standing committee meeting of the party held on Wednesday decided to contest the election alone.

But party vice-president Agniprasad Sapkota said that the issue of alliance or not will depend on the current situation. “We have already told the central committee and legislative assembly of our party that we will compete independently in the elections now,” he said, ‘now we have to prepare to compete alone. The issue of whether or not to form an alliance will be based on the current situation.’

In addition, the Maoists have opted to run for the National Assembly Speaker election, which will take place in the final week of Falgun.

During the discussion on promoting Krishna Sitaula from the Nepali Congress, the Maoist Standing Committee opted to push its own candidate.
