The goal put West Ham firmly in control, pushing United towards what appeared to be their first defeat after four consecutive wins under Michael Carrick.
However, deep into second-half stoppage time, Benjamin Šeško struck a superb equaliser in the sixth minute of injury time to save United from defeat.
Earlier, United thought they had scored through a Casemiro header, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
The draw keeps Manchester United fourth in the league standings with 45 points.
West Ham remain in 18th place and continue to battle to escape the relegation zone.
In other matches, Chelsea and Leeds United played out a 2–2 draw, while Newcastle United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2–1.
Bournemouth also secured a 2–1 victory over Everton.
