Manchester City thrash Wolves 4-0 in Premier League opener

KATHMANDU: Manchester City kicked off the Premier League in style, defeating Wolves 4-0.

Erling Haaland scored twice, while Tijsse Reijnders and Ryan Christie netted their first Premier League goals.

Haaland continued his streak of scoring in the opening week with a 34th-minute tap-in.

Reijnders added City’s second in the 37th minute, and Haaland scored again in the 61st with an assist from Reijnders.

Substitute Christie sealed the victory with a goal in the 81st minute.

Before kickoff, Wolves paid a heartfelt tribute to former striker Diogo Jota.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Tottenham beat Burnley 3-0, Sunderland defeated West Ham 3-0, Brighton and Fulham drew 1-1, and Aston Villa and Newcastle played out a goalless draw.
