Malaysia’s victorious start in triangular series

KATHMANDU: MARCH. 29 – Malaysia has made a victorious start in the triangular T20 series involving Nepal, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.

Papua New Guinea, which lost to Nepal in the first match, was defeated by Malaysia by 9 runs on Tuesday.

Malaysia batted first after winning the toss in Kirtipur, losing three wickets in 20 overs and scoring 180 runs. PNG were all out for 172 runs in 19.3 overs in response.

For Malaysia, opener Virandeep Singh batted unbeaten for 59 runs, while captain Ahmad Faiz scored 56 and Syed Aziz 47. PNG’s Norman Bhanuwa took two wickets.

Chasing the target of 181 runs, Tony Ura’s 56 runs was the highest for PNG.

Norman Vanua scored 45 runs, Simon Atai scored 17, and Assad Vala scored 11.

Servin Muniendi took four wickets for Malaysia, while Muhammad Wafiq and Pawandeep Singh each took three.
