Lumbini Province loses stalwart leader Sarita Pun Magar

KATHMANDU: Sarita Pun Magar, a dynamic member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly and proportional representative of the CPN-UML, passed away on Saturday while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

The 36-year-old leader from Eastern Rukum was widely recognized for her dedication and potential in provincial politics.

Tulsi Prasad Chaudhary, Chief Spokesperson of CPN-UML in Lumbini Province, confirmed that Pun Magar was receiving treatment at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center under Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

According to UML Politburo member and Eastern Rukum in-charge Khemman Khadka, she had been brought to Kathmandu a few days ago after developing serious health complications.

Pun Magar, a native of Taksera in Eastern Rukum, had undergone two complex surgeries simultaneously.

The first surgery was to deliver her daughter, and the second involved the implantation of an artificial heart valve.

Despite the successful operations, her condition did not improve as expected.

Born in 2044 BS in Eastern Rukum, Sarita Pun Magar served actively on the Assembly’s Committee for Finance, Tourism, and Development. Her passing has drawn condolences from leaders and activists across the political spectrum.

The Provincial Assembly remembered her as a sincere, people-oriented leader who made significant contributions to Lumbini Province.
