Low applications for election police
Of the total applicants, 1,020 are men and 321 are women.
KATHMANDU: Tanahun district has received fewer applications than required for election police personnel for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shravan Kumar BK of the District Police Office, Tanahun, a total of 1,573 election police personnel were needed, but only 1,321 applications have been submitted so far.
Of the total applicants, 1,020 are men and 321 are women.
The original deadline for submission was Magh 1 (Jan 14), but the period was extended until today due to the low number of applications.
“As the number of applications fell short of the requirement, the deadline was extended based on the decision of the District Election Committee,” DSP BK said.
To be eligible, applicants must be Nepali citizens aged between 18 and 54 by the final date of application.
They must be literate, physically and mentally fit, and must not have been convicted of any criminal offense.
Applicants should not be affiliated with any political party and must not be linked to any terrorist or destructive organizations.
In terms of physical standards, male candidates must have a minimum height of 5 feet 3 inches, a chest measurement of 31–33 inches, and a minimum weight of 50 kg. Female candidates must be at least 5 feet tall and weigh a minimum of 42 kg.
Women applicants must not be pregnant, or must have completed the post-pregnancy period.
