Lohani resigns from RPP directive committee
He proposed forming an interim committee in line with public sentiment and holding a general convention to redefine the party’s leadership.
KATHMANDU: Prakash Chandra Lohani has resigned as chair of the directive committee of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), citing disappointment over the party’s performance in the House of Representatives elections.
In a statement, Lohani said the election results had left him “shocked” and called on senior party leaders to pave the way for a new direction.
He proposed forming an interim committee in line with public sentiment and holding a general convention to redefine the party’s leadership.
Lohani stated that his resignation aligns with the principle that party officials should only continue in their roles after receiving a fresh mandate through a general convention.
He also acknowledged that a combination of internal and other factors contributed to the party’s disappointing electoral outcome, urging leaders and members to move forward in accordance with the public’s expectations.
