KATHMANDU: A long-awaited “surprise” in Nepali politics became reality on Monday night as a formal agreement was reached under the banner of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The pact unites former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen), and Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

The tripartite alliance has already created waves across the country’s political landscape. On social media, activist Rakshya Bam, who represents the Gen Z voice, highlighted the significance of this coalition.

While earlier discussions focused only on collaboration between Lamichhane and Balen, Raksha openly celebrated the inclusion of Ghising, a key figure from Ujyaalo Nepal.

Rakshya interpreted the union of these three influential leaders not merely as a political alliance but as a warning to those intoxicated by power and authority.

Expressing her excitement, she drew inspiration from the timeless poem “Aandolan” (The Movement) by the celebrated Nepali writer Parijat.
