KATHMANDU: Rajunath Pandey, Chief of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, has submitted his resignation to contest the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 (March 5).
The resignation was handed over to Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragai, though it is yet to be formally approved.
Guragain will recommend the resignation to Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) for final approval.
Sources indicate that Mayor Shah is planning to field Pandey as a candidate from Kathmandu Constituency No. 4. Pandey is reportedly aligned with the mayor in this decision to step down from his post.
