KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah (Balen) has submitted his resignation, effective from Magh 4. He handed over his resignation letter to Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol.

In his letter, Shah stated that he stepped down voluntarily.

He mentioned that during his tenure, he sincerely tried to work in the best interests of the metropolitan city and its residents.

He also expressed hope that the city’s leadership, service delivery, and development journey would become more effective, transparent, and result-oriented in the days ahead.

Shah extended his best wishes to the executive body of the metropolis.

Balen Shah was elected mayor in the 2079 local level elections, securing 61,767 votes in the polls held on Baisakh 30 of that year.
