KATHMANDU: Nearly 500 Nepalis in Israel have requested government assistance for evacuation amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs opened an online form to collect details, and by Thursday evening, 485 individuals had registered.
Approximately 7,000 Nepalis live in Israel, while 17 reside in Iran.
With air services suspended and land routes difficult, the Ministry is coordinating with various countries and international organizations to arrange safe evacuations.
In Iran, five Nepalis are imprisoned, and others work in embassies; the Nepali ambassador to Qatar reported that all are currently safe but plans for evacuation via ferry routes through the UAE are underway.
In Israel, many long-term residents do not seek evacuation, but recent arrivals are requesting help to return home; however, visa and travel difficulties persist.
Nepal has engaged with Jordan through its embassy in Egypt to facilitate safe land transit, with Jordan agreeing to assist travelers who have confirmed hotel and flight bookings.
Officials remain in close contact with Nepalese communities in both countries to plan and implement evacuation efforts as needed.
