Ishwar Pokhrel to contest from Kathmandu-5

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the CPN-UML, Ishwar Pokhrel, has confirmed his candidacy from Kathmandu Constituency No. 5 in the upcoming election.

A UML Secretariat member said on Monday that Pokhrel’s ticket has been finalized.

Speaking to the media, Pokhrel said his decision to run was made after extensive consultations within the party.

“I discussed this with everyone. The party leadership also suggested that I contest the election. Based on that consensus, I have decided to run,” he said.

Pokhrel is one of the prominent leaders of the UML and has previously held key government positions.

His candidacy is expected to significantly shape the electoral dynamics in Kathmandu-5.
