IGP Karki, security personnel face action recommendation
Releasing its investigation report, the commission concluded that human rights violations occurred during the incidents and urged the government to initiate departmental proceedings against those responsible.
KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has recommended departmental action against several senior security officials, including IGP (then AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki, following its investigation into the Gen-Z movement-related incidents.
Releasing its investigation report, the commission concluded that human rights violations occurred during the incidents and urged the government to initiate departmental proceedings against those responsible.
Those recommended for action include then AIGP Karki, Deputy Inspector General Om Bikram Rana, Senior Superintendent of Police Bishwo Adhikari, then Additional Inspector General of Armed Police Force Narayan Prasad Paudel, Armed Police Superintendent Jeevan K.C., then Director of the National Investigation Department Krishna Khanal, and then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabilal Rijal.
The NHRC has also advised disciplinary action against field commanders of the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department who were deployed in the Baneshwor and Parliament areas on Sept 8, citing their involvement during the incidents.
