Govt prioritizes Mahakali Corridor track opening, major highway upgrades fast-tracked

KATHMANDU: The government has announced that it will give special priority to opening the track of the Darchula–Tinkar section of the Mahakali Corridor in the coming fiscal year.

Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said that upgrading works on key highway corridors including Mechi, Arun, Tamor, Bheri, Seti, and the Futiya–Dipayal road will be expedited.

He also informed that remaining works under the Kathmandu Ring Road expansion project will be pushed forward.

“Special priority has been given to opening the track of the Darchula–Tinkar section of the Mahakali Corridor. Upgrading of Mechi, Arun, Tamor, Bheri, Seti corridors and the Futiya–Dipayal road will be accelerated. Remaining works under the Kathmandu Ring Road expansion will be moved ahead,” the Finance Minister said while presenting the budget.

The minister further added that tunnel road construction projects across the country will also be accelerated.
