KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 1.53 billion for the upgrade of Tribhuvan International Airport in the upcoming fiscal year, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced while presenting the federal budget in a joint session of Parliament.

He also said the construction modality of the proposed Nijgadh International Airport will be finalized within six months.

The government plans to operate Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport in partnership with the private sector to improve efficiency and sustainability.

Similarly, Bharatpur Airport will be expanded to enable night-time flights, while Surkhet Airport will be upgraded in coordination with provincial governments.
