KATHMANDU: Gold prices in the Nepali market have reached a historic high today, breaking the record set three weeks ago.
The price of gold has surged to Rs 206,000 per tola, marking the highest level ever recorded in Nepal.
This surge highlights the growing domestic interest in gold and the influence of international market trends.
According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Association, gold prices increased by Rs 1,200 per tola compared to Thursday.
Previously, on Shrawan 23, gold had reached Rs 199,400 per tola, setting the earlier record.
Experts attribute the continuous rise in gold prices to global economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and fluctuations in the US dollar.
Traders note that increased demand from investors seeking a safe haven has also contributed to the surge.
Silver prices have also seen a slight increase. From Rs 2,355 per tola on Thursday, silver is now trading at Rs 2,360 per tola, marking a new high.
