KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited (GIBL) is set to organize the second edition of its AI/ML Hackathon, aiming to promote technology innovation and foster new ideas in the banking sector.
Following the successful first edition last year—the first AI/ML-focused hackathon in Nepal’s banking industry—the bank will hold the Global IME AI/ML Hackathon 2026 from May 29–31.
The competition is open to students, startups, developers, engineers, data scientists, researchers, and professionals in the technology sector.
Interested participants can apply via the bank’s official website until May 4, 2026.
“The enthusiastic participation in the first edition motivated us to organize this second hackathon,” the bank stated, highlighting the event’s role in developing innovative banking solutions.
Participants will work on key themes provided by the bank, including The Autonomous Credit & Lending Orchestrator, Agentic Fraud Detection, Multilingual Voice Banking Assistant, and Sentinels of the Network – AI-Driven Intrusion Detection System (IDS).
Top teams will receive cash prizes and opportunities for collaboration with the bank.
The hackathon aims to accelerate digital banking innovation, address emerging challenges, and encourage the development of technology-driven financial services.
