KATHMANDU: Ujyalo Nepal Party Chair Kulman Ghising has stressed that increasing energy production is essential to achieving economic prosperity and building a self-reliant Nepal.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ujyalo Nepal Party in Rajbiraj on Friday, Ghising said Nepal must become self-sufficient in electricity while simultaneously strengthening the agricultural sector to ensure long-term economic growth.

He noted that the initiatives and reforms he previously led in the energy sector have demonstrated practical and implementable models for the country.

Ghising stated that his experience could be effectively utilized for Nepal’s broader economic transformation.

He claimed that Nepal has the potential to generate up to 30,000 megawatts of electricity within the next 10 years and earn substantial national income through power production.

“By making the country energy self-reliant, we can even reach a stage where Nepali citizens are able to use electricity free of cost,” he said. “Sustainable development is not possible unless we achieve self-reliance in basic sectors such as agriculture, drinking water, employment, and energy. Our party is clear on this vision.”

Emphasizing people-centered politics, Ghising said the Ujyalo Nepal Party is moving forward by prioritizing public expectations and needs.

He added that the party is committed to advancing governance, transparency, and development as its core agenda.
