KATHMANDU: The Group of Seven (G7) summit, hosted under the presidency of G7 in France, concluded in Évian without issuing a joint communiqué, marking the second consecutive year the bloc has failed to release a unified final statement.

According to diplomatic sources cited by Japanese media outlet Kyodo, deep differences between the United States and its allies led organizers to decide in advance not to pursue a common declaration, in order to avoid exposing internal divisions.

Instead of a unified communiqué, the summit produced nine thematic outcome documents covering key global issues, including geopolitics, the world economy, public health, and strategic stability.

French President Emmanuel Macron said at the closing press conference that the summit was “objectively successful,” highlighting areas of consensus among member states on major global challenges such as the Ukraine crisis, tensions in the Middle East, strategic minerals, and macroeconomic stability.

He also acknowledged ongoing differences with the United States on issues including climate change and the role of the United Nations, while emphasizing the importance of continued practical cooperation to prevent fragmentation within the group.

The G7 brings together Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, and United States as its member states.
