Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly on Friday, Minister Chaulagain stated that the third amendment to the Forest Regulation, carried out by the current government, is the most progressive reform to date.
He said the amendment has already been published in the Nepal Gazette.
According to the minister, the revised regulation also resolves obstacles faced by development and construction projects within national park and protected areas, while maintaining conservation priorities.
“After this government came into office, the third amendment to the Forest Regulation was introduced. It has already been gazetted, and it includes the most progressive reforms so far,” Chaulagain said. “As it is recent, it may take time to gain public attention. The amendment has been prepared by incorporating past suggestions, particularly to ensure the sustainable use of timber and the effective implementation of our conservation-oriented policies.”
The minister further added that the government is working on necessary policy measures to control damage to human settlements caused by wildlife, highlighting efforts to balance environmental conservation with the safety and livelihoods of local communities.
