Fire destroys 12 houses in Saptari, six families displaced
Police said a total of nine houses and three cowsheds were reduced to ashes in the incident.
KATHMANDU: A massive fire broke out late Friday night at Vabhangama Tole in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality–6 of Saptari District, destroying 12 structures belonging to six families, police said.
According to local resident Ramnath Yadav, the blaze is believed to have started from a fire lit in a cowshed owned by Ramavatar Yadav before rapidly spreading through nearby homes and sheds.
The fire completely destroyed two houses and a cowshed belonging to Ramavatar Yadav, two houses and a shed owned by Jugai Yadav, two houses and a shed belonging to Anil Yadav, along with one house each owned by Yogindra Yadav, Rajkumar Yadav and Dhirendra Yadav.
Police said a total of nine houses and three cowsheds were reduced to ashes in the incident.
Preliminary estimates from the District Police Office suggest the fire caused property damage worth more than Rs 4.5 million, including the destruction of food grains, clothes, furniture, cash and valuables.
The fire was later brought under control with the help of a fire engine deployed from Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, personnel from the Madhesh Province Police Training Center in Rajbiraj, and local residents.
