KATHMANDU: The Film Development Board (FDB) has made public the commercial performance of Nepali films currently screening in theaters across the country.
According to figures released by the board’s Cinepa 2 Box Office service, box office collections up to Saturday, Feb 14, have been disclosed.
‘Aa Bata Aama’ earns Rs 48,090,487
The film Aama Bata Aama, which has been in theaters since Jan 30, has grossed Rs 48,090,487, selling a total of 176,552 tickets nationwide.
The film, which highlights themes of entertainment alongside social transformation, connects closely with the everyday lives of Nepalis.
Actor Paul Shah said he could not reveal much about his role as it would spoil the story, but expressed strong satisfaction with his performance. “I can’t disclose much about my character because it might reveal the plot. However, I finally got the role I always wanted, so I worked extremely hard. This film reflects our families and village society. I believe audiences who watch it will recommend it to others.”
The film also stars Bipana Thapa, Pradeep Rawat, Usha Upreti, Simran Pant, Sigres Pokhrel, Gajit Bista, and Begam Nepali.
Directed by Chandra Pant, the film features dialogues by Abhimanyu Nirabi, choreography by Gambhir Bista, and music composed by Kosis Chhetri, Babul Giri, and Thaneshwar Gautam.
‘Kumari’ Sees Low Box Office Returns
Released on Feb 6, Kumari has collected Rs 560,211, with only 17,025 tickets sold.
Directed by Dinesh Raut, the film features performances by Abhishek Khadka and Akriti Raj Bhandari.
Despite expectations, the film failed to perform commercially, largely due to weak audience reception. Marketed as a Gen Z love story, the film received poor reviews, which negatively impacted its box office performance.

Directed by Sudipta Adhikari, the film stars Ana Sharma, Dhiraj Magar, Binay Shrestha, and Sameer Shrestha.
Although it received relatively positive audience feedback, the film struggled to convert reviews into box office success.
