KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu–Terai–Madhesh (Fast Track), considered one of Nepal’s most prestigious infrastructure projects, is progressing steadily in Makwanpur’s Lane Danda.

In Makwanpurgadhi, Bakaiya Rural Municipality, Nepal’s tallest earthquake-resistant bridge, measuring 270 meters in length and approximately 81 meters in height, is under construction.

The 71.5-kilometer fast track, managed by the Nepal Army, plans to include 89 major bridges and six tunnels.

So far, construction of three tunnels and five bridges has been completed, while work on the remaining structures continues.

The total length of the six planned tunnels along the route is 10.309 kilometers.

The government entrusted the Nepal Army with the project on April 17, 2017 (B.S. 2074, Baisakh 4).
