KATHMANDU: Nepal will chase a target of 185 runs after England posted 184 for 7 in the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Batting first at Mumbai’s iconic Wankhede Stadium, England’s batters scored 184 runs in their allotted overs, losing seven wickets.
Nepal’s bowlers delivered impressive performances, with Dipendra Singh Airee and Nandan Yadav claiming two wickets each, while Sher Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Nepal has previously appeared in the T20 World Cups in 2014 (Bangladesh) and 2024 (USA), but the team failed to progress beyond the group stages on both occasions.
Nepal’s playing XI for the match includes: Kushal Bhurtel, Asif Sheikh, Rohit Paudel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Aaarif Sheikh, Lokesh Bam, Gulshan Jha, Karan KC, Sher Malla, Nandan Yadav, and Sandeep Lamichhane.
Nepal is placed in Group C alongside England, West Indies, Italy, and Scotland.
