Education Ministry decision fails to last a day (video)
Pokharel said the decision specifically applies to classes designed for students preparing to enroll in Grade 11.
KATHMANDU: Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel has clarified that the government has decided to suspend only bridge courses and preparatory classes targeting students who have recently completed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
Speaking to journalists after Monday’s Cabinet meeting, Pokharel said the decision specifically applies to classes designed for students preparing to enroll in Grade 11.
“Bridge courses are creating unhealthy competition to attract SEE graduates, so we have decided to stop them immediately,” she stated.
Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had issued a notice announcing a complete ban on all entrance preparation classes and bridge courses, from school level to higher education.
However, following strong opposition from operators of bridge courses and tuition centers, the ministry removed the notice from its official website on Monday morning.
