Dr. Baburam Bhattarai’s father dies at 97

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and patron of the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, has been bereaved following the death of his father, Bhoj Prasad Bhattarai.

Bhoj Prasad Bhattarai passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 97 while undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital, Bansbari.

He had been admitted a few days earlier after developing serious health complications, according to family sources.

Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party leader Janmadev Jaisi said the last rites of the late Bhattarai will be performed today at Pashupati Aryaghat in accordance with Hindu traditions.

He is survived by his children, including Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.

Leaders from various political parties and well-wishers have expressed deep sorrow over the demise and extended heartfelt tributes and condolences to the bereaved family.
