Dipendra grabs Nepal’s highest run-scorer in World Cup
On Sunday, Dipendra scored 58 runs against the West Indies, bringing his total to 151 runs across two World Cups.
KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee has become the highest run-scorer for the country in T20 World Cup history after scoring 58 runs against West Indies.
Airey also became the second Nepalese player to hit a half-century in the World Cup.
On Sunday, he scored 58 runs off 47 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Previously, Subash Khakurel had hit Nepal’s first T20 World Cup half-century, scoring 56 runs off 53 balls against Afghanistan in the 2014 edition in Bangladesh, a match Nepal won by 9 runs.
With this innings, Airee surpassed Rohit Paudel’s record of 103 World Cup runs for Nepal.
Across two World Cups, Airey has scored a total of 151 runs.
In the current tournament, Airey had earlier scored 25 runs against Bangladesh, 6 against South Africa, 1 against the Netherlands, 44 against England, and 17 against Italy, showcasing consistent and impressive batting performances for Nepal.
