Dilliram Upreti, Vice Chair of Kosi State Planning Commission, took oath

BIRATNAGAR: Dilliram Upreti, the newly appointed Vice Chair of the Koshi State Planning Commission, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.

The Kosi State Government’s Council of Ministers resolved on Friday to designate Professor Dilliram Upreti as Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission.

Following the government’s decision, Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki accepted the appointment letter and swore the oath of office and confidentiality today.

Chief Minister Karki delivered the oath to Upreti on Sunday during a ceremony at the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers. Upreti, who works at the Mahendra Ratna Campus in Tahachal, has also served as Tribhuvan University’s registrar.

Upreti, the newly appointed Vice Chair, stated that he will assume responsibility for strengthening the province.

Koshi State’s Vice Chair of the Planning Commission was appointed only four months after the founding of the government.

Hikmat Kumar Karki, who was named Chief Minister on January 24, 2079, was unable to designate officers of the Planning Commission to the positions to which he was entitled.

Vice Chair Upreti has been appointed, but no additional members have been selected. Koshi State has a provision for appointing one Vice-Chair and two members to the planning commission.

The government has appointed the vice-chairman of the Planning Commission while the House is about to be convened to come up with budget policies and programs. While preparing to bring the budget, when the officials of the Planning Commission were vacant, the government’s priorities, plans and programs could not be discussed.

Chief Minister Karki stated during the show that there is a need for the province to play a role in increasing jobs and revenue. He stated that the Provincial Planning Commission will be established in collaboration with other coalition coalition members.
