KATHMANDU: Luis Díaz struck a superb hat-trick and Harry Kane scored twice from the penalty spot as Bayern Munich cruised to a dominant 5–1 victory over 10-man Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

The emphatic win helped Bayern restore their six-point lead at the top of the table.

Kane opened the scoring in the 20th minute, calmly converting a penalty won by Díaz. Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma was shown a straight red card for the foul on Díaz, leaving the visitors a man down early in the contest.

Despite being reduced to 10 players, third-placed Hoffenheim briefly pulled level through Andrej Kramaric in the 35th minute. However, Bayern quickly reasserted control.

Kane restored Bayern’s lead just before half-time, converting another penalty in the 45th minute.

The goal marked his 38th strike of the season across all competitions. In first-half stoppage time, the England captain turned provider, setting up Díaz for Bayern’s third goal.

Former Liverpool winger Díaz extended the lead in the 62nd minute, finishing a fine pass from Michael Olise.

He then completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute to seal an emphatic victory for the German champions.

Bayern’s commanding display underlined their title credentials as they tightened their grip on the Bundesliga summit.
