Dailekh RM Chair held in bank fraud case

KATHMANDU: Rita Kumari Shahi, Chair of Bhairavi Rural Municipality in Dailekh, has been arrested on charges of banking fraud.

According to police, Shahi was taken into custody on Friday after a cheque worth around Rs 500,000 issued by her was reported as bounced.

The complaint was filed by a local individual following the incident.

The District Police Office, Dailekh, stated that Shahi is currently being held in custody as further investigation continues.

Authorities have also confirmed that her remand has been extended by the court to allow additional inquiry into the case.

Police say the investigation is ongoing to determine further details related to the financial transaction and possible legal violations.
