CPN-UML leader Pasang Sherpa released after paying jail fine

KATHMANDU: Pasang Sherpa, a central committee member of the CPN (UML), has been released from prison after paying the fine in a polygamy-related case.
According to the Kathmandu District Court, Justice Anand Prasad Shrestha allowed Sherpa to serve his one-year jail sentence through a monetary payment.
Following the payment, the Dillibazar Prison administration confirmed his release.
Sherpa had been arrested on Nov 4 and, along with the jail term, the court had imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 in the polygamy case.
He had requested the court to convert the prison sentence into a monetary penalty, which was subsequently approved
