KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has initiated disciplinary proceedings against its Gorkha District Vice President, Iman Singh Basnet, after he posted on Facebook stating that he had lost interest in the party.
Basnet has since deleted the controversial post. However, the party’s disciplinary committee has issued a three-day explanation notice seeking clarification over his statement.
In the notice, the committee questions why such a post was made and states that it may constitute a violation of party discipline. It further asks why action should not be taken against him for what it describes as an irresponsible expression.
The party has warned that if Basnet fails to submit a satisfactory response within the given timeframe, further action will be taken in accordance with the party’s statute and regulations.
