Commando Training Graduation at Police Tactics College

KATHMANDU: The 11th batch of the Police Special Skills and Operations (Commando) training at the Nepal Police Tactics College, Jargaha, Nawalparasi, successfully concluded with a grand graduation ceremony.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki was the chief guest of the event.

Outstanding trainees were awarded for excellence in various disciplines, while instructors who contributed to the program were presented with letters of appreciation.

During the ceremony, IGP Karki also inaugurated the newly constructed “Arm Barrage” model pillar within the college premises.

Addressing the graduates, IGP Karki congratulated them for successfully completing a physically and mentally demanding program, emphasizing that the knowledge, skills, confidence, and courage gained during the training would serve as a cornerstone in safeguarding the nation’s internal security, disaster response, counter-terrorism, and VIP protection.

He highlighted that the skills acquired would not only enhance their professional careers but also prove beneficial in personal life. He urged all graduates to lead disciplined lives and uphold integrity.

IGP Karki further instructed the newly commissioned officers to deliver lawful, trustworthy, and citizen-oriented services, reminding them that true peace and security for the public can only be ensured when officers act professionally and ethically, without succumbing to pressure, fear, or temptation.

The ceremony included a detailed report from the training coordinator, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Bahadur Kshetri, noting that the 90-day program trained 93 officers: seven Inspectors, 18 Assistant Inspectors, and 68 constables.

Graduates demonstrated their skills through obstacle courses, weapon assembly and handling drills, sand model briefings, hostage rescue operations, immediate action drills including “fire and move,” unarmed combat, and explosive ordnance disposal demonstrations.

The event was attended by senior police officials, local government representatives including Sunwal Municipality Mayor Bimala Aryal, district chiefs, and heads of security agencies from Lumbini Province. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Executive Director of the National Police Training Academy, Additional Inspector General of Police Shiddhi Bikram Shah, and a welcome address by Principal of Police Tactics College, Senior Superintendent of Police Anupam Shamsher J.B.R.
