KATHMANDU: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), has emphasized that consensus-driven leadership and professional security are essential for the development and prosperity of the private sector.

Speaking at the announcement of candidacies for the executive committee in the 60th CNI General Assembly, Dhakal underscored the need for the federation’s next leadership to be selected through consensus wherever possible.

Reflecting on his own tenure, he noted that he had previously been elected unanimously to various positions and highlighted that a wave of consensus leadership has already begun across the provinces.

Reviewing his achievements, Dhakal cited the “Private Sector Protection and Promotion Plan” as a major success. He remarked, “Only one province remains where consensus leadership is yet to be declared. This positive message should reach all provinces and the central level. The key message today is that we, as members of the private sector, must unite and move forward collectively. The private sector is not merely a profit-making group—it generates over 86% of employment, contributes 80–81% to GDP, and is a key revenue collector.”

Dhakal also called on all office-bearers and members to end factionalism within the federation and advance together in unity.

He reaffirmed CNI’s commitment to continuously advocating for private sector concerns and supporting the expansion of business activities in the days ahead.
