Businessman Deepak Bhatta held

KATHMANDU: Businessman Deepak Bhatta has been arrested by a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), officials confirmed on Thursday.

Bhatta’s arrest comes amid an ongoing investigation into money laundering, said CIB Chief AIG Dr. Manoj KC.

The Financial Investigation Department had earlier frozen his passport as part of the probe.

Authorities said Bhatt is being investigated for alleged violations of the country’s money laundering laws.
