Body of nepali worker killed in UAE missile strike handed over to family
Ramkaji Khadka said that all necessary legal procedures have been completed to repatriate Shrestha’s body.
KATHMANDU: The body of Diwas Shrestha, a Nepali national who died in the recent missile attack in Iran while in the UAE, has been handed over to his family, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Wednesday.
During a press briefing, Ramkaji Khadka, Head of the Middle Asia, West Asia, and Africa Division, said that all necessary legal procedures have been completed to repatriate Shrestha’s body.
He added that the process to provide the family with appropriate compensation has also begun.
Khadka further assured that the Ministry, along with Nepali missions and embassies abroad, is actively monitoring the rising tensions in the Middle East and issuing travel advisories for Nepali citizens.
“Divas Shrestha, originally from Borlang Thanti, Ward No. 7, Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality in Gorkha, who worked as a security guard in the UAE, has been returned home after completing all legal formalities. Compensation procedures for the family are already underway,” Khadka stated.
He emphasized that Nepali citizens in the Middle East are safe, and the government remains committed to ensuring their security.
