KATHMANDU: The Netherlands continued their strong start to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Tuesday, defeating Namibia by seven wickets in a Group A clash.
Chasing a target of 157, the Dutch side reached 159 for 3 in 18 overs, led by a superb unbeaten knock from Bas de Leede.
The all-rounder anchored the chase with 72 not out, striking five fours and four sixes in a composed and commanding innings.
He was well supported by Colin Ackermann, who scored 32, and Michael Levitt, who added 28.
With this victory, the Netherlands moved to two points from two matches and climbed to second place in Group A.
Earlier, Namibia posted 156 for 8 after being put in to bat. Opener Jan Frylinck made 30 before his dismissal, while Jan Nicol top-scored with 42 off 38 balls — the highest individual score of the innings — including one four and two sixes.
Gerhard Erasmus contributed 18 runs, and JJ Smit added 22.
For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek and Bas de Leede were the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets each.
The Dutch bowlers maintained discipline through the middle overs, preventing Namibia from accelerating at the death.
The Netherlands’ all-round performance once again underlined their growing confidence and competitiveness in the T20 World Cup.
