Ballot printing nears completion, remaining 500K to finish today

KATHMANDU: The printing of ballots for the upcoming House of Representatives election has entered its final phase.

Janak Shikshya Samagri Kendra Limited announced that the remaining 500,000 ballots will be printed by the end of the day.

Executive Managing Director Yadunath Paudel confirmed that the printing of ballots for the direct election segment is nearing completion. “Out of 20.3 million direct election ballots to be printed, only 500,000 remain, which we expect to complete today. We had initially planned a 42-day schedule, but printing will be completed in just 40 days,” he said. Paudel added that once printing concludes, all ballots will be packed by tomorrow and dispatched to the remaining districts.

The center has been printing 1.3 to 1.5 million ballots daily, exceeding the initial target.

Meanwhile, 1 million sample ballots have already been distributed by the Election Commission to various locations.

For proportional representation ballots, 2.083 million have been printed, packed, and are being distributed district-wise.

Paudel also noted that all ballots have reached Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, with delivery to the remaining areas expected by Feb 24.
